Murli Dhir is a dual ARIA Award-nominated film director, cinematographer, editor, animator, and illustrator from Western Sydney. Murli’s background is entrenched in hip-hop and skate culture where he has found his niche using mixed media and surrealism honing a visual style that has solidified his name in the Australian music scene.

He has worked nationally and internationally with various major labels like Universal, Sony, and Warner – proving himself as one of the upcoming young and emerging directors.

 

His style is observational but sometimes surreal, with nostalgic themes and an engaging use of mixed media & animation. There’s so much energy in his edits, the use of colour, visual hooks & combined with narrative & emotive performance.

Murli has worked with some of the biggest names in music (Lil Uzi Vert, Skrillex, Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, Central Cee, Roddy Ricch, Joji, HAIM, Fred Again.., Denzel Curry, Yung Lean, Diplo, Jacob Collier, Fatboy Slim, Aitch, AJ Tracey, Girl in Red, Finneas, Slowthai, Earthgang). Murli is the current creative director for Sydney Artist MAY-A. His work has been pivotal in her international push, helping her land a billboard in Times Square in 2021 and multiple music video premieres in international magazines. Murli’s work usually features mixed media, technique & nostalgic elements, and a combination of craft and styles that are a visual feast of colour and texture.
